The cutscene had an audience. The importer did not.
On 18 August the Korean
studio ALIVE put
Vapor World: Over the
Mind into Early
Access. It is a 2D
soulslike platformer.
It had more than
100,000 wishlists. The
talk after launch was
not the jump. It was
the generative voice
and the generative
cutscenes. Olga
Taranova’s guest post
on MCV/DEVELOP, up this
month, puts the early
positive-review share
at about 25 percent,
with a lot of the
negatives naming the AI
content. Director Young
Kim said the team was
small and had hoped the
generated scenes would
be more expressive so
the rest of the game
could get the hours.
The studio also said
the generated material
had been reviewed and
shipped only
pre-rendered. That did
not save it. They
dropped the generated
cutscenes and replaced
them with ones the team
made.
The same post draws the
line that matters. At
Thrylox, moving data
from Excel into Unreal
assets was slow, so
they built an internal
importer with Claude’s
help and kept the
checks on the team. The
player never had to
admire the importer.
The guest post cites
the GDC 2026 State of
the Game Industry
report for scale: 36
percent of surveyed
professionals use
generative AI, mostly
for research and
brainstorming (81
percent), then everyday
tasks and coding
assistance (47 percent
each), then prototyping
(35 percent). Fifty-two
percent viewed the
impact on the industry
negatively. The useful
cut is not “creative
versus technical.” It
is who has to live with
the output.
If a player can see it,
budget a replacement
pass before you call
the review done.

The engine repo is not your project
Godot’s own site still
leads with the 30 June
note from the Godot
Foundation. They are
drowning in pull
requests. AI made that
worse, because a PR got
cheaper to open and no
cheaper to review.
Reviewers, they write,
used to justify the
tedium because feedback
might grow a future
maintainer. A machine
does not learn from the
comment. That is the
part that demoralizes
them.
Read the tense. An
autonomous agent or a
vibe-coded PR already
draws an automatic ban,
and they say that will
continue. The rest is
what they said the
amended rules would
include, and this page
has not walked it back:
code should be
human-authored, with AI
limited to menial help
such as completion, a
regex, or a
find-and-replace;
disclose even that in
the discussion; do not
send machine text at a
human reviewer (a
machine translation is
fine if a human wrote
the original); a human
still approves the
merge, which was
already true. New
contributors — three or
fewer merged PRs —
would need explicit
permission before a new
feature or a
significant refactor.
An editor addon that
drives your
scene does not change
any of that. Your
project and their
repository are
different rooms.
Do not send an agent to
open an engine PR. If
you are new, ask before
the feature, and let a
human write the
comment.

The pins moved. The story did not.
Godot-MCP on the Asset
Library is now 0.25.0,
submitted 24 September.
It is still the C#
editor addon, still 42
tools in 12 families,
still unhappy on a
GDScript-only build.
The new fact is the
floor. The listing now
wants the .NET 8 SDK,
and the project
.csproj
must reference
ReflectorNet 5.4.1 and
McpPlugin 8.6.0. An
August install that
pinned 5.4.0 and 8.3.0
will not match this
page. Cloud is still
ai-game.dev, or your
own server. No DLL
copy. Restore, then
compile.
If the addon is already
in the repo, diff the
package pins before you
trust the next restore.

Later this year is not a build
At Roblox Developer
Conference on 11
September, TechCrunch
reported a wider rollout
of Build, the
natural-language game
creator first announced
in July. It had been
New Zealand only. It is
expanding to Serbia and
Singapore, with desktop
access, an asset
library, and iterative
control. Scene
generation from a
prompt, including
inside Roblox Studio,
is later this year.
NPCs that can playtest
a game are later this
year. The exit is also
a promise, not a folder
you have: creators will
soon be able to ship
games as separate apps
on mobile, PC, and
consoles, with Roblox
still the engine, and
by year-end a browser
link should let someone
join without the Roblox
app.
A separate icon does
not make the project
yours. If their engine
is still underneath,
the home is still
theirs. What you can
touch this afternoon is
whatever Studio already
lets you touch. A
sentence dated “soon”
or “later this year”
is a calendar note, not
a task.
Write down the verb
that is available
today. Leave the
year-end link off the
sprint.
